The MHS girls golfers traveled to Groton for an invitational on Monday, May 12. They faced Redfield, Roncalli, their host the Lady Tigers of Groton, and a beastly breeze.

“Wind, wind, and more wind was the story of the day!” commented Mark Keeton, head coach of the Lady Bulldogs. “It was the windiest golf tournament I can remember ever being at. Olive Grove is wide open with very few trees, and it was a day of survival. I am proud of the girls for sticking it out and battling it out.”
Roncalli finished with all of their golfers in the top 10 to win the meet. The Lady Cavaliers accrued 367 points at 79 strokes over par. Claire Crawford, of Aberdeen, was the medalist with her individual total of 83. The Roncalli girls also took second and third place individually. Groton earned second as a team at 409. Redfield was third at 492, and Milbank completed the group at 514.

Isabella Flores brought home 13th place for Milbank. She carded 122. Zora Henrich came in 15th at 124. Macie VanLith took 20th at 131. Isabella Anderson finished in 21st place with her score of 137.

What’s next? Milbank was scheduled to host an invitational today, Monday, May 19, but the meet has been canceled due to inclement weather, but the Bulldogs will compete at Regions on Thursday in Sioux Valley.
