Will Muelenbach racked up 15 wins – the most at the Third Annual Larry Cantine Memorial Tennis Tournament held on June 21 at Cantine Courts in Milbank. Greg Cantine, co-organizer of the tourney, stated, “An even 20 people participated in the doubles-only event. Most players were from the Milbank area and a few from Rochester, Minnesota, and Seattle, Washington, rounded out the field.”
Alex Baugh, Gregory Grabow, and Jeff Kurtz tied for second place by tallying 14 wins each. Halli Essington, Hattie Muellenbach, Wyatt Kurtz, and Kevin Cantine formed a four-way tie with 13 victories apiece.
The Larry Cantine Memorial Tennis Tournament was first organized by Zach Waletich. After two years at the helm, Waletich turned over the planning and executing duties for the event to Larry’s son Greg and Larry’s granddaughter Rhianna Cantine. Plans are underway for the next tourney that is slated for the summer of 2026.
