Jeanette Louise Haliburton age 92 of Milbank, SD, passed away Sunday evening June 29, 2025, at the St. Williams Home in Milbank.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 11, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Milbank. Visitation will be at the church on Friday, beginning at noon. Burial will be in the Milbank City Cemetery.

Jeanette was born on May 25, 1933, in Milbank, SD, and was the eldest of three children born to Telo and Selma (Schweer) Moldenhauer. Jeanette grew up in LaBolt. She attended school in LaBolt and Milbank. She was baptized, confirmed, and married at the Emanuel Lutheran Church.

On January 8, 1950, she and Leonard Haliburton of Strandburg, SD, were united in marriage. They made their home in Milbank and raised six sons. She was a devoted wife, mother, and doting grandmother. An excellent homemaker and cook.

As soon as her youngest son started school, Jeanette entered the workforce. Starting at Bill’s Super Valu Grocery Store and then for a long time she was a teacher’s aide at the Koch Elementary School. She truly enjoyed being part of the Special Education team. After school she spent many hours tutoring Adult Literacy in her home. Jeanette also hosted numerous students for lessons on Laura Ingalls Wilder books and Pioneer Life. She was a reading advocate. Her annual yard sales each summer were a legendary in the community.

She also did volunteer work for Easter Seals, Emanuel Lutheran Church, and other community groups. She and Lenny were members of the Lake Region Antique Car Club and had made many friends through the club.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Leonard; son, Clark; and brother, Norman Moldenhauer.

She is survived by sons: Denny (Cindy) of Aberdeen, SD; Garry (Judy) of Harrisburg, SD; Tim (Kim) of Seoul, Korea; Richard (Renee) of Cottage Grove, MN; and Robert (Teresa) of Cottage Grove, MN; daughter-in-law, Dori Haliburton of Watertown, SD; brother, Jerry (Sharon) Moldenhauer of Tucson, AZ; sister-in-law, Laverna Moldenhauer of Milbank, SD; 17 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

The family wishes to thank all of Jeanette’s care providers at Darcie’s Home Care, Park Place Assisted Living, St. Williams Home, and Milbank Avera Hospital.
