Nine firefighters from the Milbank Fire Department and nine members from Summit Fire Department attended the two-day State Fire School in Watertown. Kevin Schuelke, Jason Krause, Don Weber, David Seaboy, John Weyh, Kyle Schwandt, Dusty Prisinger, Justin Siderwicz, and Brandon Prisinger represented Milbank.
Kevin Schuelke, head of Grant County Emergency Management, said, “ South Dakota Firefighters Association (SDFFA) puts on this school. It provides super good classes and training. They cover everything from administrative duties to full-blown live training sessions. Classes you can’t duplicate anywhere else.”

Schuelke, who was also a longtime fire chief for Milbank, also said, “The first responder, EMS, and fire service evolves constantly. Many of the instructors at the school are highly regarded national instructors. It’s cool that the SDFFA brings National Fire Academy-level training to us here in South Dakota.”
