The Farm Bureau reports, “A U.S. farmer feeds an average of 169 people annually.” Milbank FFA members are turning the tables to help feed our local farmers – many who are now busy in their fields during harvest.
It’s no secret that farmers go into high gear when harvest arrives. The days get to be long and the weeks are even longer as producers race time and the weather. Many often do not even get time for lunch. FFA members are recognizing this dedication by making sure farmers can get lunch on the go.
According to Sara Colombe, co-adviser for the Milbank FFA chapter, on October 20 and October 22, Milbank FFA members will pack lunches and deliver them to area farmers. The lunches will include turkey and ham sandwiches, cheese sticks, chips, baked treats, and water with a flavor packet.
