With heavy hearts, we share the passing of Richard Alan Bohn, a loving husband, devoted father, proud papa, and the steady center of our family. Richard passed away peacefully on November 24, 2025, surrounded by the people who loved him most.

Richard was born on October 31, 1950, and lived a life shaped by faith, family, service, humor, music, and a quiet generosity that touched everyone who knew him. He spent forty seven years married to his wife, Roxie, who was the love of his life. Their marriage was built on devotion, loyalty, and an enduring love that carried them through every chapter. Together, they created a home filled with warmth, laughter, and an unshakeable foundation of faith.

Richard graduated from Bexley High School and soon moved to Chicago, where he studied dental technology at Northwestern University. His time there sparked a lifelong passion for the precision and artistry behind dental work. After completing his studies, he returned to Ohio and earned an engineering degree from The Ohio State University, a reflection of his intelligence, curiosity, and talent for problem solving.

On March 25, 1978, Richard married Roxie, beginning the partnership that would anchor and define his life. Shortly after their wedding, he enlisted in the United States Air Force. He served with pride and retired as a Staff Sergeant. During his years of service, he received specialized training in dental technology, a skill that would become the foundation of his professional calling.

After completing his military service, Richard built Bohn Dental Lab with his own hands. He crafted custom crowns and bridges using gold, gold alloys, and porcelain. His work was true craftsmanship, detailed and precise and made with deep pride. What he built was more than a business. It was an extension of his character, his patience, and his commitment to excellence.

Richard lived a life of giving. He taught Sunday school, mentored young students through Kids Hope, and coached many youth sports teams including softball, T-ball, and baseball. He shared his love of sports with his own children, teaching them how to throw a ball, how to ride a bike, how to play tennis, and how to show up with heart both on and off the field. These moments became irreplaceable memories not only for his children, but for the many young people he guided.

Music was woven through every part of Richard’s life. He had a naturally beautiful singing voice and sang in church and at home, filling ordinary days with melody. He also played the guitar and passed that love on to his children. Many evenings were spent singing together and strumming guitars, creating a bond through music that became one of the family’s most treasured gifts.

Richard was known for his sense of humor, his big unforgettable laugh, and the hugs that made you feel completely safe. He was steady and dependable, the kind of man who showed up without being asked, helped without hesitation, and loved without conditions. His humility, tenderness, and gentle strength made the world lighter for everyone around him.

Richard’s great – great granddaughter, Evangeline Joy, lovingly known as Evie and the daughter of Ethan Bohn, was the light of his final months. She quickly became the apple of his eye. Their bond brought him joy, strength, and purpose during some of his hardest days, and she truly kept him going when life became difficult.

Richard leaves behind his loving wife, Roxie, and his children: Donny and his wife Paula Berry, Tommie and her husband Korey Miller, James Thomas, Roxanna Bohn, and Ethan Bohn. He is also survived by his grandchildren, his great grandchildren, and his great great granddaughter. He is further survived by his adored and treasured siblings Peggy Bohn and Phillip and Chris Bohn, along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins who loved him deeply and were touched by his presence throughout their lives.

He was preceded in death by his parents Harlow and Carol Bohn, his sister Carolee, his nephew Phillip, lovingly known as KoJak.

Richard will be remembered for his devotion to his family, the pride he took in his work, his love of music and the way he shared it, the children he mentored, the athletes he coached, his humor, his faith, and the way he made people feel supported, safe, and truly loved. His legacy lives on in every life he touched and in the family who will carry his love forward for generations.

We take comfort knowing Richard is at peace in God’s presence, singing again, reunited with loved ones, and that his memory will always be a blessing to those who knew him.
