Lady Bulldogs Place Third at Madison Invitational

Milbank varsity gymnasts traveled to the Madison Invitational on Saturday, January 17. They competed against nine other Class A teams. The Lady Bulldogs took third with a score of 132.525. Parkston-Ethan-Hanson won the meet with 136.725 points. The other Lady Bulldogs of Madison took second place with 136.6  points.

Other team places and scores: (4) Sisseton, 129.1 (5) Chamberlain, 127.95 (6) Vermillion, 124.025  (7) Kimball-White Lake, 120.025 and (8) Wagner-Bon Homme, 116.675. Deuel and Wall also competed, but did not field full teams.

On  the Bars for Milbank, Aria Prasnicki and Timbree Spors each performed their overshoots. Aria scored 7.75 and Timbree received a 7.0. Kelly Wollschlager, head coach for Milbank, commented, “Nuria (Rodriguez Duron) performed a clean routine with her beautiful drop kip to switch kip to score 7.5.”  Macyn Dunnihoo scored 7.25. Jada Leigh Wellnitz kept swinging to perform a no-stop routine. She scored 7.05.

Wollschlager said, “The team only counted one fall on the Beam,and they are continuing to show their confidence.”  Raina Untalan led the way with a powerful routine. She scored a personal best 8.9 and tied for fifth place. Nuria added a new jump – a one-fourth straddle – to score 6.475. “ Marley (Pinkert) had a beautiful cartwheel connection and solid jumps to score 7.85,” noted Wollschlager.

“Macyn added in a one-fourth straddle for a bonus. She also had high connected jumps to earn a score of  7.975. Aria showed confidence with staying on and connecting every skill,” commented Wollschlager. She scored a personal best 8.65. 

“On the Floor, the team continues to show off their dance and big tumbling,” Wollschlager said. Macyn scored 9.25 for third place. Raina scored 8.975 to take eighth.  Jada Leigh scored 8.55 for 20th place. Aria scored 8.45 for 21st. Nuria scored 8.35 for 23rd place.

The Lady Bulldogs of Milbank finished the meet on the Vault. Macyn scored 9.025 to place third. .Riana  scored a personal best 8.85 to place sixth. Jada Leigh and Aria tied. Each scored 8.25. Nuria recorded 8.175. 

In the All-Around competition; Macyn finished at 33.5 to take home eighth place. Aria posted a personal best 33.1 to take ninth place. Nuria compiled a 30.5 to earn 19th place.
