Winners of the Sixth Annual South Dakota Department of Transportation Snowplow Naming Contest were announced by the SDDOT staff. SDDOT also reports that all named snowplows from the previous five contests are still in active service in their fleet across the state.

The 2025-26 Winners:

Transportation Secretary Joel Jundt said, “I want to thank our SDDOT winter maintenance staff members for their dedicated efforts to keep our roads clear and travelers safe during winter weather.” 

Jundt went on to say, “We truly strive to be the primary resource for South Dakota travelers throughout the year, and I appreciate those who regularly use SD511 to guide their travel decisions, whether during the height of a winter storm or summer construction.”

The City of Milbank also held a contest to name their snowplow. Susan Underwood of MIlbank won the $15 prize for her submission of Sleetwood Mac.
