Charles “Chuck” Nieson, age 83, of Clinton, MN, formerly of Burnsville, MN, passed away on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at Fairway View Neighborhoods in Ortonville, MN.

No formal services will be held at this time. A Celebration of Life will be held later in the Summer of 2026.

On the day of the peaceful passing of their beloved father, Chuck, the Nieson family welcomed the birth of his great-granddaughter, Ainsley – making a bittersweet day of loss and new beginning for them.

Charles Bassett Nieson was born September 24, 1942, in Hanford, CA, to Stanley and Helen (Thompson) Nieson. He grew up in Hanford, where he completed his education, graduating from high school in 1960.

Following his academic pursuits, he embarked on a journey that would see him drafted by the Minnesota Twins in 1962, marking the beginning of a remarkable professional baseball career. As a talented athlete, he brought excitement to the field until an unfortunate injury in 1968 led him to transition into a new chapter of his life.

After his time in baseball, Chuck found fulfillment in the business world, joining Hartford Life Insurance Company, where he established himself as a dedicated and respected professional. He later continued his career with Swensen/Anderson, diligently serving the company until his retirement in 2006.

Chuck is survived by his loving wife, Judy of Clinton, MN; his children: Mark (Suzanne) Nieson of Eden Prairie, MN; Steve (Sandee) Nieson of Burnsville, MN; Mike (Meggan) Nieson of Elko, MN; Jay (Shannon) Nieson of Savage, MN; and Missy (Ross) Bergman of New Prague, MN; 22 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Robert Nieson.

Chuck will be remembered as a member of the Minnesota Twins which made his children so proud. He will also be remembered as a youth baseball and football coach. Chuck’s kindness, generosity, and deep love of his large family will remain the hearts of all who knew him.
