The Lady Bulldogs couldn’t keep pace with the Lady Pheasants of Redfield in their softball match-up on April 14 in Milbank. After forging an early lead, the Lady Bulldogs fell 27-3.
Milbank came out swinging in the bottom of the first inning to muscle their way out on top. Freshman Paisley Ericsson hit a lead-off single. She stole base to get the Lady Bulldogs into a good position to score, and Milbank capitalized on their hard work when junior Kennedi Sayler delivered a two-run single. Senior Allie Meyer followed suit with an RBI triple to give Milbank a 3-2 lead after one inning.
Their momentum faded, however, when the Redfield bats started to heat up. Redfield’s answer in the second inning tied the game 3-3. The Lady Pheasants then took the lead for good in the third. Some defensive miscues allowed them to string together key hits. Milbank committed 14 costly errors.
Redfield finished with 18 hits and scored in every inning after the first. The turning point came in the sixth inning when Redfield erupted for 19 runs in the frame. They combined doubles, triples, singles, and walks and continued defensive pressure to extend their lead and put the game beyond reach for Milbank.
Milbank’s Ashlynn Lamp went five innings. She struck out t seven batters and allowed 15 runs –six were earned. Payton Westfield pitched the sixth inning.

The Milbank offense put up four hits – one each by Ericsson, Sayler, Meyer, and Lamp. Sayler drove in two of the Bulldogs’ three runs.
Lady Pheasant Charli Jungwirth collected five RBIs. Kylie Herman added four, and Hayden Gall had three. Redfield was charged with just one error.
