A graduation Mass, followed by a commencement ceremony for eight sixth-grade students, was held at St. Lawrence in Milbank on Tuesday, May 19. The 2026 graduates included (l. to r.) Stassi Henrich, Allie Holscher, Avery Montag, Nora Peters, Baron Schmidt, Waylon Sperry, Ivy Untalan, and Eli Whipkey. The sixth graders assisted during Mass by reading and ushering.

During the commencement ceremony, the students received their certificates of graduation from Fr. Tom Hartman and Principal Brenda Anderson. Each graduate presented their family with the cord rosary they had made and Fr. Tom had blessed. The graduates also read memories of their years at St. Lawrence and gave a slide show. The Barry and Sarah Whipkey family and the Kari Untalan and Gene Untalan family were each recognized for having their “last” child graduate from St. Lawrence School.
The sixth-grade students presented a class rosary they had created for sixth-grade teacher Mrs. Paula Rausch. Rausch is retiring after 37 years at St. Lawrence. A reception for the graduates followed.
