Keven Boogaard, 62, of Odessa, MN, passed away on Monday, May 25, 2026, in Odessa.

Visitation will be held on Monday, June 1, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Mundwiler Funeral Home in Milbank, SD.

Keven William Boogaard was born December 19, 1963, in Ortonville, MN. He was the son of Francis and Jorgine (Bucholz) Boogaard. Keven lived on the family farm in rural Milbank, where they raised milk cows. He attended Milbank School. Around eighth grade, the family moved to Madison, MN. Keven attended and graduated from Madison High School.

Keven worked at Cenex Gas/Repair Station for many years in Madison. He met Cheryl Mary Westermeyer, and within six months they were married in 1990. Keven and Cheryl lived in Madison for a bit. They were blessed with their daughter, Presley Lynn Boogaard, in 1992. Keven and his family moved to Big Stone City, SD. In March of 1995, Keven and Cheryl had a baby boy named Cole Francis Boogaard, who unexpectedly passed away a couple of days later. Keven worked driving a mail route for a little bit, then started working at Big Stone Cheese Factory. Keven worked there for many years (30+). He also worked as a bartender at the Big Stone Liquor Store and the Moose in Ortonville, MN.

Keven and his family later moved to Odessa, MN. Keven and Cheryl purchased and ran the café in Odessa and named it Chache’s. Many family members helped at the café, and it was a fun atmosphere. In earlier days, family gatherings and holidays were spent at Grandma Blanche’s house with relatives, lots of good food, and good visiting. Eventually, Keven and Cheryl moved to a smaller house in Odessa. They got out of the café business. Keven also eventually had to leave Big Stone Cheese Factory due to its closing. In his last years of life, Keven’s health began to decline, and he retired from working.

Keven enjoyed being a homebody with his girls, his wife Cheryl, daughter Presley, and granddaughter, RobbieJo. Oh, and we can’t forget, he loved his kitties! He loved his family dearly and especially enjoyed watching his granddaughter grow up. He worked hard and provided well for his family. He enjoyed his cold ones and music. He also liked watching movies on TV. Always willing to help others, Keven was a very honorable man and will be deeply missed by all. Keven was a strong believer in the Lord. He was humble, polite, and possessed a kind, tactful demeanor that could be described as graceful. He knew how to make people laugh. Keven passed away at home on May 25, 2026.

“Whatever, Whatever!”

Keven was preceded in death by his son, Cole Francis; stepson, Robbie Rick Hanson; mother, Jorgine Boogaard; mother-in-law and father-in-law: Blanche and Lewis Westermeyer; many other brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law and family members; and his beloved “Big Daddy” kitty.
