Jenna Anne Johnson was born on February 24, 2003, at Prairie Lakes Hospital in Watertown, SD, to Darwin and Audra (Beekman) Johnson. She was baptized and confirmed at Countryside Covenant Church, near Milbank, SD.
Jenna graduated from Milbank High School with the Class of 2021. During her time there, she was involved in tennis, band, choir, and color guard. Jenna had a beautiful voice and loved to sing, most often around family and friends.
Following high school, Jenna attended South Dakota State University in Brookings, SD, from 2021 to 2023. In 2023, she moved to Wilmington, NC, to attend the University of North Carolina Wilmington. Though her time there was brief, Jenna truly loved living by the coast. She especially enjoyed spending time at the beach, playing cards, and making memories during nights out with friends. While living in North Carolina, Jenna worked as a nanny for several families. She had a natural gift with children and found genuine joy in caring for them. Her family often said she would have made a wonderful teacher. More than anything, Jenna treasured being an aunt to her nephew and niece. She loved spoiling them and showering them with affection. Online shopping for herself, her sisters, niece, and nephew, was one of her favorite pastimes. She was a devoted dog mom to Scout, was a role she loved deeply.
As the youngest of three sisters, Jenna was the epitome of the baby of the family. She was adored endlessly and, according to her sisters, possibly never told “no.” Her quick wit, fun-loving spirit, and ability to bring laughter to those around her made her unforgettable.
After returning home following her cancer diagnosis in June of 2024, Jenna courageously shared her story on social media. Through her honesty and openness, she built a large community of followers who kept up with her journey and found strength in her words. Jenna used her platform not only to document her experience, but also to raise awareness about the signs and symptoms of cervical cancer. Her courage, vulnerability, and willingness to help others left an impact far beyond what she may have ever realized.
Jenna will be remembered for her bright spirit, her kindness, the love she gave so freely, and the joy she brought to family and friends. She will be deeply missed and forever loved.
Jenna is survived by her parents: Darwin and Audra Johnson of Stockholm, SD; sisters: Rachel Johnson of Milbank, SD; and Paige (Roman) Staab of Remsen, IA; nephew, Ransom Staab; and niece, Romee Staab; paternal grandparents: Marlyn and Myrna Johnson of LaBolt, SD; maternal grandmother, Alice Beekman of Sacred Heart, MN; as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Lawrence Beekman.
