The Milbank Bulldogs ran roughshod over the Sisseton Redmen on October 21 in Sisseton. The Bulldogs scored six touchdowns and denied the Redman a single point. Not only did Milbank prevent Sisseton from getting on the board, in the entire game, they only allowed them a total of 66 yards.

Karson Weber drew first blood. He scored a touchdown in the first quarter, and Michael Karges kicked for the extra point to give the Bulldogs a 7-0 lead going into the second quarter.

Milbank beefed up their lead in the second quarter with two touchdowns from junior Sawyer Gauer and quarterback Kaden Krause. Carter Bowsher ran the ball for two conversions to add more four points. The Bulldogs headed to the locker room at halftime, taking with them a commanding lead at 35-0.

The third quarter was ho-hum for both the Bulldogs and the Redmen as neither team put up any points. In the fourth quarter, the Bulldogs added one more touchdown, and Karges kicked for the extra point to push the final score to 42-0.

Milbank racked up a total of 345 yards — 237 rushing and 108 passing. Sisseton was credited with a total of 66 yards. They had 80 yards passing and a negative 14 yards rushing.

For the Bulldogs, Krause carried the ball six times for 45 yards and two touchdowns. Gauer and Weber both had four carries for 37 yards and a touchdown apiece. Sophomore Garrett Mertens had eight carries for 44 yards. Karges had four for 30 yards, and junior Barrett Schneck had two for five yards.

Gauer was the leading receiver. He had one catch for 47 yards and a touchdown. Weber had two receptions for 53 yards, and Kellen Hoeke had one for eight yards.

For the defense, Evan Hausauer led the pack with six tackles. Connor Bender had four. Junior Eli Johnson and Bowsher each had three. Maddox Hanson, Stevie Ash, Jayden Johnson, and Jace Rufer each contributed two. Mertens, Gauer, and Krause made one apiece.

The Bulldogs threw one interception and fumbled the ball twice. The Redmen threw three interceptions, and both teams were charged with seven penalties. Milbank suffered a loss of 27 yards, and Sisseton lost 48 yards.

Thursday, October 28, the Bulldogs head to Canton to take on the C-Hawks for the first round of the playoffs. Kickoff is at 7:00 pm.
