Members of the Milbank Area Chamber of Commerce and community supporters gathered today, November 30, for a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the new Berens Market in Milbank. Traffic was busy outside and inside the store. Shoppers were eager to check out the produce and fresh meat departments that were expanded, the frozen food section that nearly doubled in size, and the new departments. The Market increased its footprint by approximately 10,000 square feet. When you visit, don’t miss the homage to Milbank’s history in the photo murals lining the walls.
The store now features hot and cold deli items, a large beer cave, a bakery, and a variety of gourmet popcorn flavors made in kettles in the store. Options range from Oreo and pumpkin to cheese and caramel corn.
The Market moved two blocks east of its former location and construction took over a year to complete. It employs over 50 part-time and full-time workers.
