Scoular Takes Fourth at Lennox Invitational

The Milbank cross country boys team brought home sixth place, and the girls team secured 12th place at the  Lennox Invitational at LenKota Golf Course on Thursday, October 2.  Junior Jeter Scoular was the top-finishing Bulldog. He crossed the line at 16:30.77 to take fourth place in the varsity boys 5K race. Gage Beverly of Vermillion won the race at 15:57.95. Lady Bulldog and senior Ashlynn Batchelor earned third place with her time of 16:38.56 in the JV girls 4K race. The winning time was 15:43.82.

“It was a great test for us to see where we stack up against many of the top schools in Class A,” commented Eric Townsend, head coach for both teams. “The course is generally a fast course for the runners. Townsend also noted the starting time for the race was moved up to in the morning in anticipation of the afternoon heat. The mercury hovered near 90.

Also according to Townsend, Milbank runners are still battling injuries, but both teams have a chance to make a run at the Northeast Conference team titles on Thursday, October 9. The Bulldogs travel to Webster. Start time is 1 p.m.

Lennox Invitational Results
Varsity Boys 5K Run: Junior Jeter Scoular took fourth place. Junior Liam Heller was 24th. Junior Beckham Berry was 45th. Sophomore Franco Flores was 52nd. Sophomore Ryland Wendland was 89th.

Varsity Girls 5K Run:  Junior Macy Mueller took 34th place. Freshman Ella Koplin was 47th. Eighth-grader Tabitha McFaden came in 58th.

JV Girls 4K Run: Senior Ashlynn Batchelor took third place. Sophomore McKenzie Mueller came in 41st. Senior Yanderyn Olivares was 59th.Sioux Falls Chrisitian won the race as a team.

JV Boys 4K Run: Bulldog Sophomore Tate Pew took 59th Place. Sioux Falls Christian won the race as a team. 

Jr. High Mixed 3K Run:  Seventh-grader Nuria Rodriguez Duron took 23rd. Seventh-grader Lennox Spors was 33rd. Seventh-grader Quetzalli Culhuac Segundo was 40th.  Eighth-grader Abril Ayala Ramirez came in 54th. Seventh-grader Kinleigh Brandenburger was 69th. Seventh-grader Fernanda Hernandez Vasquez was 78th. 

Boys 3K Race:  Jefferson Ordonez was 10th. Matthew Unzen came in 16th. Justus Gortmaker finished 47th.  All are eighth-graders.
