William “Bill” Jurgens was born on November 16, 1961, in Watertown, SD, to James and Elizabeth “Betty” (Allen) Jurgens. He was baptized and confirmed into the Catholic faith. Bill attended school in Milbank and graduated from Milbank High School in 1980. He later continued his education at the vocational school in Canby, MN.
On September 18, 1993, Bill married Kathy Weyh, and together raised four children: Ross, Katie, Landon, and Jackson. Over the years, Bill worked in various family and local businesses, including Jurgens and Sons in Milbank, Cave Supply, Jurgens Sales and Service, Valley Farm Equipment in Milbank, and most recently, Twin Valley Tire.
Bill was a faithful member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Milbank. He took great pride in serving with the Milbank Volunteer Fire Department which he served on for 40 years. He also cherished his simple tradition of Friday lunches at Gunslingers in Twin Brooks, SD. He found joy in the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing, and also enjoyed yard work. You could often find Bill in his garage, but the front porch, where he and Kathy often sat together, was his favorite spot in the home. Above all, Bill treasured time spent with his family, who were the heart and center of his life.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy Jurgens of Milbank, SD; children: Ross Jurgens of Milbank, SD; Katie (Jason) Spears of Aberdeen, SD; Landon (Carissa) Jurgens of Brandon, SD; and Jackson “J.J.” (Kellie Christians) Jurgens of Milbank, SD; six grandchildren; sister, Jeanne (John) Brodrecht of Casper, WY; sister-in-law, Cheryl Jurgens of Milbank, SD; and brother, Charles (King) Jurgens of Owatonna, MN.
He was preceded in death by his parents: James and Betty; brother, Jamey Jurgens; infant child, Murphy Jurgens; and three grandchildren.
