First English Lutheran  –  9 Third Street NW  – Ortonville
Saturday, December 20  –  4 p.m.

The congregations of Zion Lutheran and First English Lutheran churches in Ortonville invite everyone to a Blue Christmas service at 4 p.m. on  Saturday, December 20. The service will be held at First English Lutheran Church at 9 Third Street NW..

The service, sometimes called the Longest Night Service, is a time for anyone who finds the atmosphere of holiday celebration difficult due to grief, loss, or struggle. The Blue Christmas service provides a safe and quiet place to find hope in the darkness and join others who are experiencing loss and struggle.

Hear God’s comforting Word of hope and healing. Honor your loss in a gentle and non-judgmental atmosphere. Embrace God’s promise of light that shines even in the deepest darkness that calls us forward to the new life of spring.

This Blue Christmas service is non-denominational and offers comfort and support to all. Regardless of whether your loss is recent or from years past, you are welcome to attend and receive a moment of peace and remembrance.

Parkview Methodist – 1101 S. Second St. – Milbank – Across from Avantura
Sunday, December 21 –  4 p.m.

The annual Blue Christmas service in Milbank will be held on Sunday, December 21, at 4 p.m. at Parkview Methodist Church. Share quiet music, scripture readings, and reflections. Light a candle in remembrance of your loved one.

Everyone is welcome!  Invite one and all who might find comfort in worshiping together.

Blue Christmas recognizes that not everyone feels joyful this time of year, but Christmas is God’s reminder that we are not alone. Blue Christmas allows us to acknowledge our “blue” feelings and our burdens and offer them to God.

Is pain or grief overwhelming you this Christmas? Are memories, hurts, sadness or grudges making you feel heavy? Have you lost the Christmas spirit? Join us to allow the healing light of Christ to come into you.
