Milbank Musicians Perform in Grades 5-8 Band Contest

Milbank elementary and middle school band members – 132 in all – performed during  the South Dakota Bandmasters Grades 5-8 Band Contest from April 10-11. The event was held at the Milbank Middle School and MHS and included over 300 entries. Students from Browns Valley, Castlewood, Deubrook, Ortonville, Summit, and Wilmot also attended.

All performances were based on: tone, intonation, technique, interpretation, musical effect, and other performance factors. Ratings: Superior (I), Excellent (II), Good (III), and Fair (IV). Judges may decide to add a plus or minus following the rating if he/she chooses. 

Accompanists: Tristan Hooth, Evy Liebe, Camryn Sovell, Kaitlyn Brandenburger, Sheila Dailie, Pam Neugebauer, Deb Rausch, and Miriam Schwenn. Mrs. Susan Karels is the director of Grades 6-12 band. 5th grade band instructors are Mrs. Karlene Thomas, Mrs. Deb Rausch, and Mrs. Susan Karels.
