
The annual South Dakota National Guard track meet was held in Milbank on April 16. Thirteen teams competed in the boys division, and 12 teams competed in the girls division. The Bulldogs finished first. The Lady Bulldogs also took first. Several school records were toppled by both Milbank teams.
Lady Bulldog Bree Townsend broke her own school record in the Javelin with a throw of 98′ 3″. The new record is an improvement of seven feet. Bailee Hendricks cracked the top-10 list at No. 10 Javelin throws in school history with her toss of 59′ 3″.
Haylen Schneck tied the eighth-grade High Jump record with a top 10 jump of 4′ 10”. Tenley Bohn moved into the No. 8 spot in the varsity records in the Pole Vault with her vault of 8′ 7″.
Bulldog Sam Rick improved his No. 2 triple jump record by leaping 46′ 0″. Brady Ericcson broke the seventh-grade boys pole vault record with his vault of 9′ 1″. Ethan Seyer improved his No. 3 varsity record in the Javelin with a toss of 124′ 6″.
Lawson Novy joined the varsity record book at No. 8 in the Javelin with his throw of 107′ 6″.
Eric Townsend, head coach for the Milbank teams, said, “There were quite a few season and personal bests achieved at this meet as well. Overall, the SDNG meet was a great meet for both teams.”

Top Finishes for the Girls:
The Lady Bulldogs took first place in four relay races. Zayda Townsend, Macy Mueller, Schneck, and Ella Koplin won the 3200-Meter Relay. Aria Prasnicki, Schneck, Brielle Baumgardener, and Nuria Rodriguez won the 800-Meter Relay. Susie Schuneman, Violet Johnson, Koplin, and B. Townsend won the 400-Meter Relay. Koplin, Schneck, Schuneman, and Z. Townsend took first in the Bulldog Relay. Johnson, B. Townsend, Mueller, and Prasnicki took third in the second Bulldog Relay.
Individually, Hayden Lloyd took second in the 100-Meter hurdles. Rodriguez was third. In the 300-Meter Hurdles, Mueller was second and Rodriguez was third. In the 400-Meter Dash, Z. Townsend came in first, and Koplin was third. Paolo Calhuac Segundo was second in the 3200-Meter Run. Tabitha McFaden took third.
On the field, Anna Neugebauer was third in the Triple Jump and first in the Shot and Discus. Schneck was third in the High Jump. B. Townsend was second in the Javelin competition.

Top Finishes for the Boys:
The Bulldogs took first place in three relays. Liam Street, Cade Grabow, Garrett Weber, and Harley Zemlicka won the Bulldog Relay. In the 800-Meter Relay, Weber, Zemlicka, Jaxson Wiese, and Rick took first place. Weber, Lance Engebretson, Mason Allen, and Wiese won the 400-Meter Relay. Street, Brock Sime, Bennett Graham, and Franco Flores claimed second in the 3200-Meter Relay. Logan Dexter, Kale Wenzl, Street, and Jeter Scoular took third in the Medley Relay.
Individually, Zemlicka took first in the 110-Meter Hurdles and Bennett Hunt was third. Zemlicka took second in the 300-Meter Hurdles. Scoular was second in the 1600-Meter Run. Liam Heller finished third. Rick won the 100-Meter Dash, and Lance Engebretson took third. Wiese was third in the 200-Meter Dash. Heller was second in the 800-Meter Run. Flores won the 3200-Meter Run. Seyer finished second in the Long Jump. Rick was first and Grabow was third in the Triple Jump. Rick was first and Max Scoular was third in the Pole Vault competition. Lawson Novy took second in the Shot and the Discus.
