Roger Dalton Rohlfs was born on December 6, 1934, on the family farm near Corona, SD, the youngest of four children born to John and Mabel (Buttke) Rohlfs. He was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Corona. Roger attended Geneseo #2 Country School through the eighth grade before continuing his education at Corona High School. After completing his schooling, he remained on the family farm, dedicating his life to agriculture.

On October 16, 1955, Roger married the love of his life, June Schultz, in Milbank, SD. Their love story began with a heartfelt and memorable moment, after selling a cow in Sisseton, SD, Roger bought a ring and proposed to June on their way to a baseball game. Together, they built a life on the family farm, where they milked cows for over 25 years and raised crops. They were blessed with four children: Cynthia, Sandra, Clifford, and Marlowe.

Roger was a devoted member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where he faithfully served as a trustee, elder, and youth leader. He was also an active member of the Corona Fire Department, serving as both bookkeeper and firefighter for 15 years, and he took pride in helping maintain the Kilborn cemetery. Even beyond his own farming, Roger stayed busy with custom corn shelling, baling hay, delivering machinery across South Dakota and Minnesota for Earl Hanson, and assisting Paul DeBoer with fieldwork and hauling.

Roger spent his entire life on the family farm, a place he deeply loved. He found joy in the outdoors, whether through his work or in his leisure time. When he wasn’t tending to the farm or milking cows, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening. He also enjoyed watching the Minnesota Twins and the Minnesota Vikings, and playing cards.

Roger is survived by his beloved wife, June Rohlfs of Milbank, SD; two children: Cynthia (Roger) Bird of Peoria, AZ; Clifford Rohlfs of Milbank, SD; grandchildren: Darren (Karen) Pauli, Emily Porter, Kimberly Meyers; great-grandchildren: Jadyn, Ziara, Taylor, Logan, and Madalyne. He was preceded in death by his parents: John and Mabel Rohlfs; daughter, Sandra Meyers; son in infancy, Marlowe Rohlfs; infant granddaughter, Theresa Meyers; siblings: Alice (Harvey) Hooshagen, Junior (Margaret) Rohlfs, Alvin (Doris) Rohlfs; and father-in-law and mother-in-law: Fred & Malinda Schultz.
