Shawn V. Faughn, Sr.

It is with heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Shawn V. Faughn, Sr., who left this world on Thursday, May 7, 2026, at the age of 63 in Ortonville, MN.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Abiding Faith Free Lutheran Church in Ortonville, MN. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Pastor David Niemela will officiate the service, and refreshments will be served following the service at the church on Saturday.

Shawn Van Faughn, Sr., was born on the Fourth of July, 1962, in Wabash, IN, the son of Carol (Creecy) Baker and the late John Faughn. He grew up in St. Paul, MN, before eventually making his home in Ortonville, MN.

Shawn had a heart as big as his love for the outdoors. Whether it was camping under the stars, fishing along the banks of his favorite rivers, or taking long walks to enjoy nature, he found joy in simple pleasures. A sports enthusiast, he could often be found cheering on his favorite hockey and football teams.

Shawn’s work ethic was a cornerstone of his character. As a dedicated laborer in the granite quarry industry, he approached life and work with unwavering determination. Above all, Shawn treasured his family and friends.

Shawn in survived by his children: Kelsey, Shawn, Jr., Kiara, and Zak; his mother, Carol; his father, Lloyd; his sisters: Teri, Carrie, and Gale (Jeff); his brothers: Rod (Becky), Lloyd (Tina), Billy, Ted, David, Ed (Cathi), and Travis (Cheryl); along with countless nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, John Faughn; step-mother, Roberta; brothers: Johnny, Brett, Dennis, and Jay; brother-in-law, Chooch; grandparents; as well as several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
