State Representative John Mills is on the ballot for re-election this November. Mills, a Republican, has served District 4 – Grant, Deuel, rural Brookings, and rural Codington counties- since he was elected in November 2016. He is a member of the Taxation and Commerce and Energy committees.

Mills and his wife, Joy, live on a farm near Volga. They have two children and five grand children, who all live in the area. Mills says he has a broad range of business experience from decades of working in building construction, real estate development, and property management. He also understands agriculture from owning a family farm and his connections to neighbors and friends involved in agriculture.

Mills and his wife are active members of Peace Lutheran Church in Brookings. He has held leadership positions with the Brookings Area Chamber of Commerce, the Associated General Contractors of South Dakota, and served as a district supervisor for the Brookings County Conservation District.

Mills says, “Serving District 4 in the South Dakota House has been a privilege… Our Constitution, our freedoms, and our opportunities all take vigilance to defend. Improving South Dakota takes all of us, but I believe that working together, we can make life here even better.”
