William Karels and Alaina Rausch to Play in All-State Band

William Karels and Alaina Rausch have been selected to play in the 2020 South Dakota All-State Band. The 70th Annual All-State Band will be held at the Mitchell Performing Arts Center in Mitchell from March 26-28.

William, a sophomore at MHS and the son of Jason and Susan Karels, will play sixth chair tuba in the Lewis Band. Alaina, a senior at MHS and the daughter of Tony and Deb Rausch, will play eighth chair clarinet in the Clark Band. William was one of 12 tubas selected and Alaina was one of 40 clarinets chosen from across the state.

Susan Karels, Milbank School District’s band director, and Deb Rausch, the district’s lesson assistant, will accompany the students to the event.
