Valley Queen announced their decision to cancel Cheeseburger Day, an event traditionally held in June. The cancellation is due to the ongoing uncertainty of how COVID-19 will impact large gatherings. Plans are underway for an alternative event to be held this fall.

Cheeseburger Day is a popular community get-together serving over 2700 cheeseburgers. It is also a significant fundraiser for the Milbank FFA and the Northeastern South Dakota Jr. Holstein Association. Valley Queen pledged to support both organizations with donations to make up for the loss.

Callie Curley, communications coordinator for Valley Queen, said, “For 29 years, Cheeseburger Day has been a summertime staple in Milbank. While we are extremely disappointed to cancel this event for 2020, it is a decision made with the health and well being of our employees, families, and community members in mind. Vice President of Sales and Procurement Jason Mischel, said “ We look forward to the day we can gather together again.”
