Every Vote Counts – Head to Polls to Decide Tax Debate
Local News September 29, 2015 Staff Writer 0
Today is voting day! Grant County residents head to the polls to voice their opinions on the recent debate stemming from the passage of two tax measures by the Grant County Commission this summer.
On the ballot are:
An increase in the wheel tax from $4 to $5, with a 12-wheel maximum.
A property tax levy which equates to .50 for every $1000 in taxable valuation, starting in 2015.
A simple majority “yes” vote on either measures upholds the County Commissioners’ actions and puts the tax into law. A simple majority “no” vote on either measure will stop that particular measure from being implemented.
Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on today.
