The Milbank Oral Interpretation and Debate team won first place at the Golden Eagle Cup in Aberdeen on November 13 and 14. The team took home the trophy in the Class A Sweepstakes with 37 speech points and 67 debate points, for a total of 104. Vermillion was a distant second with 36 points.

Claire Mischel earned a spot as a finalist in Extemp and Tanner Kettwig and Sadie Holland finished fifth in Novice Public Forum.
Competing in the Gold Eagle Cup were: Makayla Johnson, Sophia Seffrood, Abigail Weber, Trevor Schmidt, Jessica Fenhaus, Kimberlly Aburto, Maty Lightfield, Callie Bolin and Macie Redmond. Interp students who contributed to the win were Rebekah Tuchscherer, Taylor Balling, Chase Pinkert, Allison Grear, Korinne Roggenbuck, Devon Balling, Kim Hoffmeyer and Nathan Loutsch.

The team also traveled to Watertown on November 18 to participate in a novice debate event. Cat Rego and Sara Capp secured first place in the Novice Public Forum and the team of Kimberlly Aburto and Callie Bolin took home second in a near victory.The team of Kimberlly Aburto and Callie Bolin came in with a close second place.

Kylie Roggenbuck and Tori Quade experienced the first debate of their high school careers. Each won one round in the contest.
