Veen_(2)U.S. Army Staff Sgt. Jason Veen of Milbank retired from the South Dakota Army National Guard December 15, 2015, with 20 years of military service.

Veen served with the 740th Transportation Company in Milbank as a team leader, a position he’s held since 2008. Veen began his military career in 1995 when he enlisted as a heavy-wheeled operator in the SDARNG. He served in Operation Iraqi Freedom and was awarded a Purple Heart, an Army Good Conduct medal, a Meritorious Service medal, and a Combat Action medal.

Veen’s future plans include fishing and spending more time with his family. He resides outside of Milbank with his wife Kimberly.
