The Milbank speech and debate team captured first place at the Watertown Speech Fiesta Friday and Saturday, January 22 and 23.
Students participated in three preliminary rounds of individual events Friday with the finals on Saturday.
Brianna Schreurs qualified for the finals in the Informative division and finished fifth overall. Kimberlly Aburto advanced to the finals in Novice Original Oratory where she took fourth place.
In debate, Rebekah Tuchscherer advanced to the semi-finals in Varsity Lincoln-Douglas.
Other members of the team included Connor Lightfield, Macie Redmond, Taylor Balling, Kadon Leddy, Shawn Stemsrud, Claire Mischel, Nathan Loutsch, Cat Rego and Rebecca Loehrer. The team was accompanied by head coach Natasha Hartman.
