_DSC0031 (1)The Milbank School District Board of Education accepted the resignation of Koch School Principal Tim Lease during a special meeting of the board Monday, March 7. Lease will relocate his family to Brookings, where he has accepted a position as principal at Medary Elementary School. Before joining the Milbank staff, Lease taught for six years in Brookings.

He said, “I have been blessed to work with the tremendous Koch School staff and a supportive administrative team. Milbank has a history of strong community and school board support for its schools. We will definitely miss Milbank.”

As Koch School administrator for the past two years, Lease has been part of significant changes in the district. “The biggest change I have seen at Koch School is the increase in technology used, specifically Chromebooks,” he said. “We have gone from having two computer labs to implementing Chromebooks one-on-one in every class in grades three to five and having two mobile Chromebook carts to share in second grade and other classes. Lease, along with the other administrative staff, was also instrumental in creating the Bulldog Preschool at Koch School.

“I have felt fortunate during my tenure here to be a part of an excellent administrative team and am disappointed that we will be losing Mr. Lease and his family,” stated Superintendent Tim Graf.

Lease’s wife, Amy, has worked in daycare in Milbank. She also plans to seek a job in the Brookings school system. The couple has three children: Nathan a fifth-grader, Noah a kindergartner, and Griffin a three year-old.
