drivers-ed-clip-artThe Milbank School District will offer a Drivers Education course this summer. High school students should already be signed up through the school. Registration for eighth grade students began today, Monday, April 4.

“Please get your registration in as soon as possible, as slots fill up quickly,” said Brad Olson, one of the driving instructors. “We have room for about 50 students in the two sessions.”

The first session begins May 31 and the second session starts June 20. Thirty classroom hours will be taught prior to behind-the-wheel instruction. “The scheduled hours of instruction are mandatory and any missed hours will result in the failure to complete the classroom instructional time,” explained Olson. “In case of an emergency, please contact me.”

Classroom times are set for Tuesday, May 31, through Friday, June 3, and Monday, June 20, through Thursday, June 23. Class times are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. with an hour lunch break. A shortened class is held the final day of instruction.

Behind-the-wheel instruction will take place after successful completion of the classroom portion. Six hours of driving time is required. Dates for driving groups are June 6-9, June 10 and 13-15, June 16-17, June 24 and 27-29, and June 30-July 1.

The cost for the class is $250 and is due by Friday, May 6. Registration will not be complete and driving times will not be assigned until the registration is paid.

For questions, please contact Olson at the Milbank Middle School.
