Matt Rosdahl of Clear Lake announced his candidacy in the District 4 race for the South Dakota House of Representatives. Matt is a teacher and coach at Deuel High School.
Matt grew up on a farm just northwest of Dawson, MN. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in History at Southwest Minnesota State University and a Master’s in Education at the University of Sioux Falls. He is in his eleventh year in education and his sixth year at DHS. Matt serves as the head varsity football coach, assistant middle school track coach, and student council advisor. He has also been the assistant varsity girls basketball coach for the past five years.
Matt and his wife, Maria, have two children – Kaedan who is nine and in third grade and Logan, age two.
In addition to teaching, Matt has experience working in agriculture, finance, sales, tourism, and the service industry. “I believe my varied background will give me a unique perspective that will work well in dealing with the complexities of our local and state economy,” he said. “These experiences combined with my academic curiosity will allow me to hit the ground running in Pierre.”
Matt plans to focus on issues he feels are paramount to District 4 and the State of South Dakota – education, agriculture and rural communities, and supporting and expanding local businesses. “I will be a true voice of the people,” he stated. “I understand that my loyalty is to my district first, the State of South Dakota second, and my party last. I want to reach across partisan lines to do what is right for my constituents. I decided to run for office because I feel too much time and money is spent trying to solve problems that don’t exist. I want to return the focus to the things that impact our day-to-day lives.”
Matt is looking forward to the campaign season and the chance to meet with and talk to voters all across District 4. He can be reached via email at firstname.lastname@example.org or on Facebook at Matt Rosdahl for South Dakota House of Representatives.
