Twenty-nine teams did their best to pen three cattle of the same number during Saturday’s Whetstone Valley Rodeo Association’s team penning event. It was a perfect night, but the cattle were on the feisty side.

Three teams accomplished the task, while four teams were able to pen one or two cattle. Topping the field and earning first place were Louie Minder, Calvin Thompson and Joe Kanthak. Shane and Randy Schuchard and Dan Thyne came in second while Milt Stengel, Monte Rosen and Craig Magadenz took home the third place money.

Twenty teams took part in Add ‘Em Up. Teams were given a number and must sort out three cattle whose numbers add up to that final number. “It can get very interesting,” noted Kathy Tyler, penning organizer. First place money went to Randy Schuchard, Calvin Thompson and Joanie Hills. Steve Hamann, Louie Minder and Calvin Thompson earned the second place money.
