The Whetstone Valley Rodeo Association hosted their annual Ranch Rodeo Saturday, August 13, with perfect weather for the cowboys and cowgirls.
Twelve teams competed for a chance at buckles and prize money in branding, doctoring, sorting, a relay race and trailer loading.
Jorgenson J-Heart Ranch of Waubay finished first in three events and earned the overall first prize award. The team, pictured left, was comprised of Willie, Luke, Ashley and James Jorgenson
Second place was earned by Schuchard’s GMC of Watertown with team members, pictured right, Randy Schuchard, Emily Kahnke, Todd Sandal and Adam Boone.
Rounding out the money winners was the Games Unlimited team of Steve Hamman, Chance Carlson and Ashley and Matt Peterson.
“A special thank you to Farrell Auction, Grant-Roberts Ambulance and the Milbank Fire Department for their assistance during the rodeo,” stated Kathy Tyler, event organizer.
Three team penning events remain for the 2016 season. They are scheduled for August 27, September 10, and September 24.
