_DSC0051The high school football season is finally here. The Milbank Area Bulldogs will host the Flandreau Fliers in their opening game Friday, August 26, at AB Campbell Stadium. Kickoff is 7 p.m.

Milbank Area returns a solid group of players and looks to have a successful season. Sporting typical first game jitters, head coach Jeremy Tostenson said, “The execution might not be perfect, but I hope to see us playing with lots of effort and energy Friday night.”

The Dawgs dominated Flandreau 55-7 in the opening game of the 2015 season, but this year are prepared for a battle. “Flandreau returns some experienced players and will have a good sized offensive and defensive line,” Tostenson said. “Our goal is to play aggressive and physical.”

Friday night’s game will be the first Pink Night of the school year. The local team will wear pink ribbon decals on the back of their helmets. Fans are also encouraged to wear pink.

Avera Medical Group Milbank, Milbank Area Hospital Avera, and Big Stone Therapies will host a tailgate event prior to kickoff. The groups will serve hamburgers, cheeseburgers, hot dogs, chips, and a drink for $5 beginning at 5:30 p.m. There will also be a Frisbee toss prior to the start of the game.
