Riders Take Control Of Cattle At WVRA Team Penning

Fourteen of 24 teams penned at least two of their cattle at the Whetstone Valley Rodeo Association’s team penning event on August 27. Monte Rosen, Marsha Wieting, and Craig Magedanz took home the first place money with a time of 48.03 seconds. Dave Hardie, Keith Mendenhall, and Dustin Hills came in a close second at 48.09 seconds. Keith Mendenhall also won third place with teammates Steve Hamann and Joanie Hills.

Sixteen teams attempted to sort their cattle and five accomplished the task. The Schuchard crew of Randy, Shane, and Shannon placed first and Shane, Kelly Peterson, and Craig Magedanz came in second.

Four teams entered the novice event. Tigh and Cassidy Hardie and Kolt Mendenhall did their best to pen their choice of cattle with the help of their dads. Tigh and Kolt won the event.

The next team penning is set for Saturday, September 10. A two-man sort will take place the night before, Friday, September 9. Both events begin at 7 p.m.
