The Milbank Area Bulldogs and the Groton Area Tigers both have a 3-0 record this season and will go head-to-head in Northeast Conference football action Friday, September 16, in Groton.
“All Northeast Conference games are big games for us,” stated Bulldog head coach Jeremy Tostenson. “This game will be another good test in the process of getting better.”
Milbank Area cruised to a 38-15 victory over Flandreau in their opening game of the season. The Dawgs then shutout McCook Central-Montrose and Aberdeen Roncalli by identical scores of 19-0. Meanwhile, Groton Area rolled over Oakes, ND, 55-13 and defeated Mobridge-Pollock 33-0 and Redfield-Doland, 40-0.
According to Tostenson, a solid defensive game will be key to the Bulldogs securing a victory Friday night. “Their quarterback is a threat with his feet. We need our fits to be perfect and need to tackle well in the open field,” he said. “Each day in practice is another day to get better. That has been our approach and we will continue to focus on one day and one game at a time.”
Kickoff is 7 p.m. Keep up with The Valley Express for live action updates throughout the game and post- game results.
