grant-deuel_royaltySeniors Sydney Zenk and Jacob O’Donnell were crowned queen and king at Grant-Deuel’s Coronation on Monday, September 26. They will reign over the week-long Homecoming activities featuring the theme Wildcat Forever.

Zenk is the daughter of Sharona and Lance Reyelts and O’Donnell is the son of Scott and Vicki O’Donnell. Other royalty candidates were Brittany Crocker, daughter of David and Michelle Crocker and Jaedon Gronewold, daughter of Wendy Bear.

Emcees for the evening were Dylan Kennedy and Jaecy Engebretson. First grade attendants for the coronation were Vivian Sieh, Devin Pekelder and Luke Torgerson.

Class skits included the sixth graders presenting Three Little Wildcats; seventh and eighth graders, Two Truths and a Lie; freshmen, Are you Smarter than a Freshman?, and the juniors and seniors, a lip sync battle.

Coach Nancy Kreutner, recognized the Grant-Deuel athletes. They are Brendon Engebretson and Domnick Ellefson, football; Jaecy Engebretson, Harley Hennings, Averie Engebretson, Emily Wollschlager, Jaquie Wold and Kaydance VanDykhort, volleyball, and Luke Wold, cross country.

The 2015 king and queen, Oliver Roth and Tori Brandenburger were present at the celebration. Entertainment was provided by the Grant-Deuel band. The evening concluded with the burning of the W.

Activities planned for Homecoming week include: dress up for USA day, career day, jersey/fake injury day, throwback Thursday, and spirit day. Students of Grant-Deuel High School will join with Milbank High School for a parade in Milbank Friday, September 30, at 2 p.m.

Grant-Deuel continues its homecoming celebration Saturday, October 1, with a brunch beginning at 10:30 a.m. A parade travels down Main Street in Revillo at 1 p.m. and pie and ice cream will be served at the school following the parade. Basketball, sand volleyball, and bean bag games take place throughout the afternoon. The Revillo Fire Department will serve hot dogs, brats, and burgers at a tailgate supper at 5 p.m. at the school. The day wraps up with the homecoming dance from 6 to 9 p.m. in the school gym. Music will be provided by The Resistance. All ages are welcome to attend.
