Stubbe received the Ambassador For Peace medal and the National Defense medal for his service in the Korean War. He served in the United States Army from 1952 to 1954.

The prestigious Ambassador For Peace Medal is awarded through the South Korean Consulate of Chicago. This medal is an expression of gratitude from the Korean government for American servicemen and women who served in the Korean War.

The National Defense Service Medal was established by President Dwight D. Eisenhower in 1953. The award is the oldest service medal in use by the United States Armed Forces.
Grant County Veterans Service Officer, Scott Malimanek presented the awards. Stubbe’s family, friends, and residents of Park Place attended the ceremony.
