Milbank Area Hospital Avera and Avera Medical Group Milbank showcased its state-of-the-art healthcare campus during an open house and ribbon cutting today, Tuesday, November 22. The program was guided by Northeast South Dakota Healthcare Foundation board chairman, Jim Gesswein. He thanked the generous donors who made the new facility a reality and stressed the importance of the community for the project’s success. Gesswein said, “We built this facility as a community and this community should be very proud.”
Milbank Area Hospital Avera administrator, Natalie Gauer, also shared appreciation. Additional guest speakers were Fred Slunecka, chief operating officer for Avera Health, Dr. Nanci Van Peursem, family practice physician for Avera Medical Group Milbank, and Jason Kettwig, Milbank City Administrator.
Milbank Area Chamber of Commerce directors Chelcie Eischens and Laura Kelly led a ribbon cutting. Eischens also presented Gesswein and Gauer with their first dollar to commemorate the day. The campus will open for service on Wednesday, December 14.
