_dsc0010-3Tim Brown has been hired as Milbank Shopko Hometown’s new manager. Brown, a native of Milbank, graduated from MHS in 1994. His retail experience includes 16 years as a manager for Walmart.

Brown and his family moved back to Milbank nine years ago. His wife, Jennifer, is employed at Great Western Bank. His son, Landon, is a freshman at MHS and his daughter, Maiah, is in seventh grade. Brown enjoys spending time with his family outdoors – fishing, hunting, boating, and water skiing.

Brown said he is excited to be back working in Milbank. “I have lots of family here and appreciate the closeness of the community. It’s great to be able to call people by name when they come in our store.”

According to Brown, he started his new position just before Thanksgiving- the craziest shopping week of the year. He reported how well he and his staff handled the crowds on Black Friday. “Many customers complimented us on the lack of chaos. So, I guess we are headed in the right direction.”

Brown went on to say many towns wish they had a Shopko store, so Shopko obviously saw something special about Milbank. “It’s a win-win. Milbank gained a great store that sells things that weren’t available here before. You need a new pair of Nikes? We’ve got ’em.”

Headquartered in Green Bay, Wisconsin, Shopko operates 390 stores in 26 states. Through the Shopko Foundation, the company supports local organizations and schools.
