Two MHS debate students qualified for the finals of the Fargo South debate tournament December 9-10 but they didn’t know it! “When the tournament ended we thought they were semi-finalists and had a 4-1 record,” explained MHS debate coach Caitlyn Oien. “But I just received word from tournament officials there was an error in tabulating the scores. Kimberlly and Nathan should have gone to the finals and finished with a 5-0 record.”
The students teamed up to compete in Public Forum II which involves two teams in a debate about a current topic. Students present a case – pro or con- and engage in rebuttal and refutation followed by a crossfire.
