Members of the Whetstone Valley Electric Cooperative are without power this evening due to ice precipitation and high winds. East River Electric, which serves WVEC’s six substations, has experienced severe damage to transmission lines and poles. This has caused interruption of electric service to all of WVEC members. The distribution system of Whetstone Valley Electric has also sustained damage.

According to Dave Page, General Manger of WVEC, “East River and Whetstone Valley Electric crews are currently assessing the damage and working to restore electric service. We regret the loss of power to our members and will do everything we can to restore it as soon and as safely as possible.”
