Grant County Emergency Management announced an emergency shelter is open for all citizens of Grant County without power due to the recent winter storm. “Those in need of a warm place to stay while power is being restored are welcome to seek shelter in the basement of the Grant County Courthouse,” stated local emergency management director Sheryl Ward.

According to Ward, just one family has used the shelter thus far. She went on to say the motels in the area are full, but most people expected to stay just one night. With other power companies sending personnel to assist in the restoration of power, the motels will continue to be full. Help is available.

Ward encouraged those without power to seek shelter. “If you need a safe and warm place to stay, please stop at the Grant County Detention Center located next to the courthouse and someone will assist you.” For questions or more information contact Ward at 605-432-4637.
