Whetstone Valley Electric Cooperative now expects to begin delivering energy to some of their members by Thursday afternoon and hopes to have the majority of their members back on sometime Friday.

East River Electric is nearing completion of the Summit feed into Whetstone’s service area and are continuing to rebuild the feeder from the South.

Western Area Power Administration (WAPA) has brought in additional crews and equipment to assist in the reconstruction of their transmission line into the Summit substation and have moved up the timeframe to be back on line.

Whetstone Valley Electric crews continue work on restoration of our distribution system. General Manager Dave Page stated, “We’re grateful for the assistance of several crews from three other electric cooperatives.” There are still more than 180 distribution poles that need to be replaced. Heavy ice still clinging to power lines in some areas, has slowed the progress and high winds may cause additional damage and outages.

Page concluded, “We want to thank our members for their patience, understanding and support during this outage.”
