Grant County Auditor, Karen Layher, administered the oath of office to five elected officials during the Grant County Commissioners meeting Tuesday, January 3. Bill Street, newly-elected Grant County commissioner for District 2 and incumbent commissioner Doug Stengel, representing District 4, were sworn in to start the meeting. Commissioner Mike Mach will serve as the chairman of the board for 2017 and Marty Buttke was chosen as vice-chairman. Paul Dummann is also a commissioner on the board. In addition to the commissioners, the oath of office was administered to Grant County Treasurer Raynelle Mueller, States Attorney Mark Reedstrom, and Grant County Coroner Mark Leusink.

Committee and board appointments were made and include: Buildings – Buttke; Christian Service Council – Layher; Insurance Alliance – Street; Economic Development Corporation – Buttke; Community Transit – Buttke; 4-H – Joan Czmowski; First District – Mach; Glacial Lakes – Chamber Directors, ICAP – Stengel; Law Enforcement – Dummann; Library Board – Layher; Mental Health – Dummann; Planning and Zoning – Mach; Visiting Neighbor – Layher; Weed – Street; Emergency and Disaster – Street; Highway – Stengel; and Milbank Housing Authority – Buttke.

The Grant-Roberts Ambulance Service was approved as the ambulance service. First Bank and Trust was approved as the official depository. Mileage and meal rates were approved. The funeral allowance remained at $3,100 plus the cost of opening and closing the grave. Election salaries were also set.

Appointments within the county were also approved: Sheryl Ward, Emergency and Disaster Director; Krista Ateyo-Gortmaker, Planning and Zoning Director; Wanda Koepke, Visiting Neighbor Coordinator; Kathy Steinlicht, Assessor; Kerwin Schultz, Highway Superintendent; and Scott Malimanek, Veterans Services Officer (VSO).
The next regular meeting of the commission is scheduled for Tuesday, January 17, at 8 a.m.
