Hospice Honors Patients at Tree of Lights Ceremony

The Milbank Area Valley Hospice of Milbank honored their 2016 patients at its annual Tree of Lights ceremony Sunday, January 8, at the Milbank Area Hospital Avera chapel.
Special music was provided by Milbank High School senior Jimmie Berkner who sang Silent Night and Amazing Grace. A candle lighting ceremony and tribute was conducted by the hospice staff. Following the lighting of each of the five candles, a memorial was said.
The ceremony concluded with a message and closing prayer by Pastor Nathan Zastrow, hospice chaplain and pastor at Peace Lutheran Church in Milbank.
Hospice staff include: Diana Dirksen, RN; Linsey Allen, social worker; Emily Granquist, RN; Janis Baldwin, RN, and Jessica Karges, RN manager. Other hospice staff include: Darla Folk and Susan Sime, CNAs, and Dr. Nanci Van Peursem, hospice medical director.
