Milbank Kindergarten Registration Set

Kindergarten screening and registration for the 2017-2018 school year will be held Friday, January 27, at Koch Elementary School in Milbank. The screening takes place in the kindergarten classrooms from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Any child five years old or who will be five years old before September 1, 2017, must register on this date. Please allow 1 to 1 ½ hours to register your child.

Each child will undergo a kindergarten screening assessment. The school health nurse will complete a brief health assessment and review immunization records. The school speech therapist will be screening the children’s speech. Parents will complete registration forms at this time and are asked to bring a certified copy of the child’s birth certificate and a record of the child’s immunizations.

Children and parents will have an opportunity to meet and visit with the kindergarten staff. Parents will also have an opportunity to visit with Mrs. Brandriet Koch School Principal about Junior Kindergarten, a half-day program that targets students who turn five during the summer. The program is a half day/year-long, halfway step between four-year-old preschool and kindergarten. It provides the structure and social skills associated with kindergarten, but with the cognitive content of preschool-readiness skills.

Children will register according to last name by this schedule:
A-D 8-9 a.m.
E-H 9-10 a.m.
I-L 10-11 a.m.
M-N 11-12 p.m.
O-Q 12-1 p.m.
R-S 1-2 p.m.
T-Z 2-3 p.m.
