Qualon Grant, son of David Grant and Tracie Grant of Milbank, was the top prize winner in the banded bird contest. He won a Remington 870 Express Super Mag gun.

Thirty banded roosters were released in three public hunting areas near Milbank in early October. Hunters who harvested one of the banded birds turned in the band for an instant prize and a chance for the grand prize. Prizes were donated by Top Hat Lanes, Hardee’s, Taco Johns, Food & Fuel, Casey’s, Pizza Hut, and S&D One Stop.

The contest was sponsored by the Milbank Chamber of Commerce, S&D One Stop, and Pheasants Forever and was conducted to promote hunting in Grant County. “We plan to do this again in 2017,” stated Grant County Pheasants Forever member Darin Mertens. “If you have questions about the program, please contact any of the committee members.”
