The Milbank Fire Department responded to a call Friday, April 7, at 2:49 p.m. where a large wild land fire broke out west of Milbank at 149th Street and 469th Avenue, just north of the railroad tracks.

According to Milbank Fire Chief Kevin Schuelke, the fire spread to an old farmstead of trees and hills with the cause unknown. “The railroad was shut down for about an hour to deal with the fire along the tracks,” he explained. Firefighters were on scene until 10 p.m.
